Run: 1:08 Week: 9:06 Year: 129:09 5:27/5:35 11:03 2nd place First race since Thanksgiving. This is a monthly local series which is chipped timed and free. Pretty cool. All on dirt/gravel XC trails. Pretty flat, 60ft of elevation gain for 2 miles. I discovered as soon as I put the Vaporflys on that they are definitely not made for these surfaces. Noticeable slipage every step. No idea how much time it cost me, I'm guessing not much since I ran on the fast side of what I expected. Had two younger guys pushing me, they were about 5 seconds in front of me the entire way until the last half mile. Caught and dropped one, and just about made contact with the second until he kicked in the last 400 faster than me to win by 6 seconds. Overall really happy with this effort. Think sub-17 5k on the track in 4 weeks is very realistic, and the Vaporflys should be more suitable on the track. Most amazing part of this race was a 9 year old ran 11:27. Did 6 x 20-30s strides on the cooldown for some additional stimulus.
