Daily Note

Run: 2:49

Mountain long run. Trail 707 + forest road 303. 3800' total gain, 50mins total above 9k'.

Had a route mapped out ahead of time but had to improvise just 5 miles in. Came upon two moose standing directly in the trail. In hindsight it was really cool but in the moment it was pretty unnerving. Firstly the raw size of these animals was really imposing, probably 6 feet tall at the shoulders. Secondly I knew that I was on a really remote section of trail with no phone service. I kept my distance for a few minutes to see if they would move, but they just watched me and there was no way I was going to try to go around them. So I backtracked and modified my route. Still a good long run, legs felt a little more tired than usual, but these mountain trails are hard no matter how you feel. Did a few miles on a jeep road I will explore more in the future. Saw moose, turkeys, deer, and zero humans in 3 hours.
