Made the last minute decision to drop the meet this weekend due to inclement weather, so ran this sort of makeshift workout instead. Workout was 3200 @ 90% effort, 10' rest, 10 min. tempo, 5' rest, 600, 500, 400 @ 5K pace. Goal for 3200 was between 10:20 and 10:30, but the wind sapped my legs after two laps. Another frustrating day. Can't fathom why I can feel so good and smooth on road tempos then just be terrible on the track. Perhaps it is my old worn out spikes, which don't seem to be giving me any spring like they used to. Anyway, today just about sums up the last month of training. Great workouts directly followed by poor ones. Going to try to keep my chin up for the rest of the season.
