Kind of a nightmarish day to do this sort of workout. 45°, cloudy, 15 mph winds with gusts in the 20 mph range. Goal was to run 3200 at goal 5K pace that I would run in two weeks. Definitely went wrong from the start. Barring all excuses, it is what it is. First 400 in 1:10, likely from the spike boost, 800 in 2:24, 1600 in 4:56. Second mile was just me bleeding everywhere. 5:32 second mile. I don't think I've ever run that slow before. My body just felt so out of it. I definitely paced this very very very poorly, but the cold temperature just made my arms and legs numb. I find it coincidental that I had similar results to last year when I ran a time trial in similar conditions, although last year it was a 1600. I think super cold conditions just aren't good for the body. After I finished, my lungs were hurting so badly. 10 min. rest then 4 x 400 in 1:18, 1:16, 1:16, 1:16. 200s in 36, 38, 37, 37. Definitely brushing today aside and looking forward with my chin up. I know what I am capable of, I just need the right conditions and time to do it. It really is just all a matter of time now.
