Daily Note

excessive heat wave thing going through chicago rn so i guess ill start this run at 6:30pm ish and then run a 7 mile recovery tom morn and then long run fri morn?we'll see

ok so y'all read this^^ that i wrote at 3 pm central time. Literally 3 hours later i start my run get 100 m out my building and it starts to sprankle. I'm hoping it goes away and what can a lil bit of sprankle do to someone? not much, unless you're talking to abi. So I'm like wow refreshing and i smile at every person running in the opposite direction; i looked like a frickin crazy person. Within .5 miles from my apt it starts the clouds pour down literally all the water california needed during the 7 yrs of drought came down in the span of about 3ish miles.

I'm gonna take a break from this lovely story to rant about the lack of progress and the D- meteorology in the chicago area. I have used, google weather(probably also my roommate's android weather app(probably also and accuweather. None of these are even close to correct. Their predictions vary every 3 minutes like WTH(heck). How am I supposed to prepare for literally anything. Like in my backpack that i take to work i carry a rain jacket, a hoodie, an umbrella, a hat, sunglasses, waterbottle, green tea and now I think I should have probably brought my coat from pittsburgh. Chicago weather is like a box of chocolates, and no one not even the people who spent years majoring in this can tell you what you're gonna get.

OK back to the preprogrammed run: during these 4 miles of all heck breaking loose im debating if i should switch today to a long boi or to the 7 mi maintenance but i decide to keep w/ it. I'm like telling myself all these positive things about how pounding rain is better than 90 degree weather (questionable). Also during these 4 miles every bug in the midwest decides that it wants to die on my face and maybe wash off with the rain, sweat , tears. About 20 sec before i have to start the mp it clears up and im happy and also 4 lbs heavier.I wrang out my clothes and started the mp. mp didn't go too badly but it definitely felt hard. splits were 6:32, 6:47, 6:40, 6:44, and 6:37 (avg:6:40) really proud of that last mile since at the half i was at 6:44 pace and i picked it up and it had all the "hills" of the run (think the ridges on a lays ruffle chip) in this segment. chilled the mile back to my apt in 9:15 (@kristen).
