IT HURTS

Run

: 6.45 Mile(s) : 00:00:00 : : : 0.0

Daily Note

Manslaughter with Tucker (of course), but also with Elvir, but also with Noah. Started snowing (if pelting ice shards is snow) for a solid portion of the run. Still a good time though and it eventually cleared up. Felt ok, bit tight in hip. Lift and roll afterwards.---------------- Not sure if this is the forum to address this, but probably good timing considering it's mental health week at WashU. Kevin Love, a basketball player for the Cavs, wrote a really good article on the mental health issues that he has faced. Really cool considering basically 0 people in professional sports have talked about this before this month with Love and Demar Derozan. Even these guys with huge amounts of fame and money struggle with these issues. Large part of the article is about the importance of describing struggles out loud and the power that this had for him. Biggest takeaway: "everyone is going through something that we can't see". To everyone on the team (including myself), remember that you have so many people willing and ready to talk if your issues start consuming your life or even just bother you occasionally. Keeping anxieties, concerns, or sorrows internalized is in the short term the easier solution, but in the long run will be excruciating. I'm not saying to broadcast any issues you have, but rather to just understand all the love and support around us, and to know everyone is willing to help. This is a great forum to address this, imo.

Thank you, Joe. We need to appreciate non-running athletes more.
