Daily Note

Rainy run this morning which I like a lot. It sucks at first but then it’s fun. This afternoon will be a true cross country race because of the conditions. My left knee hurt around the mile mark which is abnormal during my run. It felt the way it did before Maine East so hopefully I can run well like I did at Maine East. Times might be slow but I’m more concerned about racing than my time. / Very very solid race today. I was locked in beforehand which was good. I wasn’t too happy about the race moving up 10 minutes and being told that 37 minutes before because I listen to certain songs at certain times to get me ready but adjusting is important. I felt really good for the first .75 and ran with the top 7 because they were doing a workout so it worked well. Along the backstretch I wanted to pass them but they were running 4 wide which made it very difficult. Then I fell way back and zamler and I grinder together the whole race. It was super windy on a wide open course so I let him get in front of me and drafted off him which was solid. I never saw AJ in this race which was interesting. On the last mile I think about half way in zamler and I moved up and past Jonah. I just followed zamler till around where coach was standing then I made a big move which put me in a position where he couldn’t get ahead of me no matter what his kick was and he tried really hard but I held him off. This meant I was good for 7th on the team but Jonah was doing a workout so obviously I still have a lot of work to do. If I could somehow get myself in the Charlie and Jonah mix while staying faster than zamler I would be so happy. I’m hoping that’s what the mileage jump will do for me but it’s gonna take a lot of harder work than I’ve ever done before. Splits today were 5:37, 11:35, and like 17:28 so obviously mistakes were made but overall I don’t have much to complain about after the way I raced today. If I run another slow second mile this year though I will be really pissed because how many times do I have to do that before I learn. The Cooldown with zamler was lowkey the most fun time I’ve had running in a long time.
