Daily Note

Awesome run this later morning out on NW Roads. These bad boys were in perfect condition with a softer shoulder and hard packed interior. Legs really appreciated it after the recent pavement pounding (aka all winter). Was originally planning on a 9am run, but the alarm went off and I snoozed it once before fully shutting it down. Woke up at 10:15am and then headed down to snag some pie to save for after my run and brunch. Matt Paal was the only other one going at this time, (everyone else had done earlier) so away we went at 10:55am when the weather was 26 degrees, cloudy, & supposedly 5mph winds, though they definitely were stronger on the way out. Even had 'em shift a bit to hit a cross wind on the return journey. We started off just below seven and that felt nice and smooth, so rolled along with 6:40s for the next couple of miles. Figured we'd just sit at that comfortable pace the entire time. Entire body was relaxed and we both just seemed to be in that cruise mindset. Pace kept slowly getting taken down. Can't say one of us pushed it as we stuck side by side the entire time. Truly a joint effort. We were debating 10-12, but at the Swine turned Matt asked me which way and I figured 12 out and back on the roads sounded perfect. Turned based on Matt's watch and back we came with somewhat of a tailwind. Pace average just below 6:20 for the next two with the final four right around 6 flat. Honestly was a lot of fun and a good way to let of some steam without even realizing I needed to do this. Probably a moderate effort, but didn't quite feel like it was on that level. All in all, nice to spin the legs and get some mileage on them. Not much conversation, but still enjoyed and appreciated Matt's company. Some serious GI distress hit with two miles to go, but thankfully got past wave one and made it back safe and sound. Afterwards was calf raises, stretching, 25 push-ups, & 30 crunches.
