Daily Note

Well, the foot was bothering me a little while walking around campus today. Upon further investigation on the mats, it does seem to be a different than last March. This pain is a lot easier to pinpoint when I massage around on my foot. The pain is also less sharp. In terms of practicing, I figured I'm still in my two week off period (with the second week being easier mileage), so it seemed like biking today wouldn't be too much of a big deal. Additionally, it is December 4th...a long way off from anything meaningful, so practicing prudence now is the best idea. In other words, I could've run today, but would've been thinking to myself 'this is stupid and pointless' the entire time. Headed up to snag my ideal bike after a botched 'do work' breakdown. Thankfully it was open, so I hopped on and away we went. The album I was listening to dictated the length of the effort. Kendrick Lamar's 'good kid m.A.A.d city' is 73 minutes long, so 75 minutes it was. I think today was only my third time listening through this album in its entirety. Classic, but it so for a reason. Great stuff for a consistent hour plus. Certainly helped the bike go by quite quickly. Not looking at the clock until 58 minutes also helps. Sprinters came up and took over a lot of the bikes halfway through. In terms of effort level, switched the watch to HR mode and tried to keep it between 140 and 150. There were times when it got a bit higher, but perceived effort still felt about right. Had to get up off the saddle three or four times just to give my poor, sore butt a break. Worked up a decent sweat, but nothing too bad which I think confirmed a solid, yet appropriate piece of work. Breathing remained super relaxed throughout. Cough is almost gone. After finishing up my legs were pretty darn stiff...oof. Good discomfort though. What was unfortunate was the fact that my foot seemed to hurt a little more post-bike. Might just try running tomorrow if that's gonna be the case. Felt some slight twinges during the bike as well. Finished out the day down on the mats with calf raises, toe tappers, rolling, stretching, foot mobility, 75 push-ups, 50 squats, 20x core circuit, & foot rolling. A bit different on the core circuit today as increased the final twist sit-ups to 20 rather than 12. All in all, pretty solid day considering I had to stay inside when the sun was out.
