Daily Note

Was concerned the windy conditions today were really gonna affect this workout. Thankfully that wasn't the case as things were actually pretty tolerable. Decent amount of rain the past two days also made for a relatively sloppy course and some soft moon sand, but this also wasn't too bad. Weather was 43 degrees, cloudy, & 20 mph winds. WU was Sherman's and then active, followed by a jog over to the starting point on Pine Loop. Felt pretty decent on this thing and went at a slower clip of 7:32. Had an odd feeling during the active of sleepiness and some slight rubberiness in the legs. Probably due to the long run on Sunday and less than ideal sleep three of the last four nights. In terms of the workout, this is one I always remember, due to the distinctive final three reps. A bit modified this year as the reps were distance, rather than time, based. Broke out a unique outfit today with Playmakers singlet, arm sleeves, gloves, and half tights. Ended up being highly appropriate, if not a bit overly warm. WO began with Primo, Nobs, Crispy, Reuben, & Butch. Things went:
2x2000m (3' jog)
3x1000m (2' jog)
3xcable box to top of pine loop hill~725m (1:50 jog)
First two 2Ks were honestly pretty tough. Those reps in the 2000-2400 range always seem to hurt. Slowed down more than I would've liked on the final 400m of the second K. Times were 6:16 & 6:21. both mile splits were consistent in 4:59. The 3Ks felt good. Very strong in the middle portions after consistently fast 400 splits. Always finished strong and went well up the Prairie hill for splits of 3:06, 3:05, 3:06. The last three reps are odd. Mental game is just prepping for the hill during the first 500m, but still cardiovascularly tough since there's a gradual hill. Grind up the hill, but had great mental game for the final one. Splits were: 2:32, 2:30, 2:28. Group split up a bit today with Nobs feeling good and some other guys feeling a little off or having to make trips to the port-a-potty. Ended up just being Crispy and I on the pine loop hills, but timing worked perfectly for Arne to hook up with us. He ended up finishing very strong and helped drag me along. All in all, felt very mediocre today. Still got in a solid piece of work though which is what really matters. Thankfully avoided lactic on any of the hill reps. CD was with Sid, Nobs, and Primo on the first portion of the course, then added on solo with reverse Prairie and Pine loop. Legs got into a decent rhythm and had some bounce. They did feel tired though after dinner. Pace was a bit quicker than the WU with 7:22 for 3.1 miles. Afterwards was calf raises, toe tappers, rolling, R8 rolling, Pillar GS x 12, ankle mobility, 50 push-ups, 20 squats, 30 reach-throughs, 15 side-ups, 15 fire hydrants, & 15 forward/backward hip rotations. Kinvara3 @ 370.11 miles & 1500s @ 133.7 miles.
