Daily Note

Ran from Porter @ 3:30pm when the weather was 51 degrees, 7 mph winds, and cloudy. Did cross campus with a huge group of boys to start and added on with NE Roads by myself (got out there using the natty lands). Keeping the mileage up this week considering my low mileage March. Probably will start to bring it down here in a week. Hard to imagine I need to start thinking about tapering, but I did about a four week taper for cross and it paid dividends and next Saturday marks four weeks from conference?! Cross campus was truly rowdy today...perfect way to kick off the spring season! Felt nice and relaxed throughout, though in different ways. Easy pacing and talking to Zaggy about logistics for tomorrow had my mind off of the effort initially, and the miles out on the dirt roads simply felt smooth and good. Cardio in a great spot. The left tibial tendon felt it a bit more than I would've liked during the last two miles. I'm getting pretty damn sick of all these aches and pains that have my mind occupied when I'd rather be more in tune with my cardio and legs and running in general. Thankfully the hammie's pretty much back to normal and same with the shin. Right fourth toe is back to its painfulness that I experienced last week...good grief. Got back to the track, threw on my spikes, and did 5x100m strides. Felt better with each one...hence the five instead of normal four. First two were on the grass and went poorly, but hitting the track was better. Certainly felt hard on the legs though. They're not exactly the freshest right now. Initially very unmotivated for tomorrow's race, but the more I've let it percolate in my mind, actually starting to get pretty excited. Although I could be frustrated with a slow heat, I'm actually looking forward to this. It's been awhile since I've had the chance to try and lead a race which could be kinda fun. Well see if that's even a possibility given how things feel tomorrow. Afterwards was calf raises, toe tappers, rolling, stretching, & 20x core circuit. Real solid roll out session with Byv on the infield. PF7s @ 201.8 miles.
