Daily Note

Well, it looks like I only managed to make it two days without going down to Skog. I was itching to run, (for my mental health more than anything tbh), so decided an comfortable five miles on the updoors would still make this more like 2.5 days of rest. Went down later since I knew I wouldn't need anywhere near the full two-and-a-half hours things usually take, so started on the updoors track @4:25pm. Ran most of this thing with Mike Finn, though Cian was there for a good portion, as well as Max at times. Crispy and Justin for the first mile. The combination of getting a new pair of Pure Flows and not having run since Sunday had my legs feeling light and fresh. That being said, the thing that felt the best was my cardio. Don't know why, but this was the best its felt in awhile. Incredibly smooth and relaxed, even with the faster pacing. First mile was 6:59, then 6:58, then 6:52. By that point in time I was feeling like boiling the frog and Mike Finn wasn't opposed, so dropped to around 6:25 for the next one. Unfortunately took the pace down too fast (immediate drop instead of the proper gradual decline) and this fun little occurrence only lasted a lap or two. Last mile was quicker as well, but a bit more controlled. All around, a nice easier effort to get back in the swing of things and get the normal routine going again. Afterwards, I did calf raises, toe tappers, rolling, and upper body lifting. Could notice a slight drop in strength, but that's to be expected from a week-and-a-half off. Currently debating whether or not I want to keep up this lifting and core routine, or switch to MB/GS accompanied by some extra core/PUs here and there. Either way, today consisted of: chest press, pullover, lat pulldown, torso rotation, shoulder dumbbells, tri pulldown, dumbbell curls, sit-up variations, flies, delts, row, dips. PF7s @ 5 miles.
