Daily Note

Woke up @7:50am and did 40 push-ups and 20 squats. Survived the first hell Tuesday of the semester. Thankfully Genetics lab was delayed 45 minutes, so got to sleep in a little. That being said, two labs and a class had me tired by the time I got down to practice at 4:15. Legs were feeling especially tired for some reason. I really was hoping to head outside, but the brutal wind on the way to Skog and 4 inches of snow in the last twelve hours convinced me otherwise. Started on the updoors track around 4:20pm. First six miles were with Bing (hardly any convo though), with final 5.7 solo. This thing was pretty darn crowded today, with women's track warming up, plus baseball and intramural teams. This was one of those days where you just have to grind it out and get the miles in. The Ramones song that came over the speakers within the final mile perfectly summed up my mentality after 64 laps...hence the title of this log. Cardio was in great shape today, but the legs were very flat. Might be partially due to the fact that my shoes are nearing 500 miles. Pacing started off at a 7:09 average for the first seven, and then dipped to 6:50ish for the ending portion, mostly because the faster I went, the sooner I got off that updoors track. Outer left foot was a real bother the first mile, but went away after that. Interior right ankle felt kinda weird and bottom of right foot (the arch) was somewhat strained. Gotta make sure I keep a close eye on all these things! As stated earlier, my cardio felt very easy today, so this has me confident I'll be rearing to go for conference in a week and a half as long as I time my taper perfectly. Did 4x100m strides afterwards and these went quite well. Quicker than normal with Saturday's mile in mind. Calf raises, toe tappers, rolled, and the Elliot Core Routine. A bit subpar on the core today. Not a huge fan of being 45 minutes behind everyone else at practice and dinner as it feels like I haven't really seen anyone today. Bagged lunch and missing team table then doesn't help matters. PF7s @ 490 miles.
