Daily Note

Woke up @10:35am and did 50 push-ups, 20 squats, and 20x core circuit. Ran from Skog @3:30pm when the weather was 9 degrees, 9 mph winds, and mostly sunny. It was very chilly out, but unfortunately I didn't really notice how cold until mile 9. Started out on Jeff with Birdo (we ended up going a bit faster, so pulled away from Plumb, Bill, Pael, and Turtle). Got sweaty during these first six miles. Also within these first six miles I decided to change the run from a simple 9 mile recovery into the week's long effort. The opportunity seemed perfect to finally follow through with the much talked about reverse Lando's. So that's exactly what I did. Birdo was considering coming along, but decided against it. The route itself was actually pretty fun. The normal downhill wasn't too terrible, and doing the 'hill' in reverse forced me to slow down and not wipe out thanks to the snow. Speaking of the snow, this made for some softer surfaces and not too bad of conditions. Things started to get quite cold at the precipice of the route when I still had six miles to go. Had already considered speeding up to finish the day, but the cold temps and freezing sweat provided more motivation for this, as I figured working harder would help me warm up. Pretty much dropped things below 6:30 for the final six, with 6:02 pace for the final three. Didn't feel that difficult, but also didn't me get warmer. Legs were smooth and cardio was also good. Surprised considering yesterday's hard effort. Good grind of a day, but gonna try avoid being this cold again. Had the weird experience with difficulty in blinking cause face was frozen. All in all though, still pretty happy with the week's long run, especially considering faster pace. Got back to Skog and after a very painful thaw out did calf raises, toe tappers, rolled, Pillar GS x 12, & PT side-ups x 15. Lower right calf is very, very tight tonight. Wonder why this unevenness exists, as the left calf doesn't feel much of anything. Did some R8 rolling later in the night. PF7s @ 202.7 miles.
