Daily Note

Woke up at 8:50am and did 50 push-ups, 20 squats, and 20x core circuit. Feel like a bit of a slacker for not hitting up fiterim, but really want to embrace this down week. I'm pretty sure I'll get down there starting Monday. The ankle/achilles pain I mentioned yesterday was really bothering me throughout the day, especially when going up or down stairs. For this reason I was heavily considering taking the day off, but decided to give things a shot after reading my July 24th log. I remembered having similar pain to this back in the summer and after finding this log, it said I went out and after four miles or so things got loosened up and felt a lot better. It took about four days for the pain to totally dissipate. I crossed my fingers and hoped this would be the case today, and holy cow the similarities were eerie. Right around mile three to four, the pain got a lot better (no longer had to keep landing on my heel to make pain manageable) and by the end of the run the pain was hardly there. Praying these next couple days follow the same pattern that I saw this summer. (This is just one instance showing how important it is to log!) Overall, I'm still completely baffled by this recurring right ankle issue that rears its ugly head every four to five months or so! Regarding the deets of this run: left Skog @3:30pm with a large group of boys when the weather was 40 degrees, 12 mph winds, and partly cloudy. Absurdly nice day, even though the wind was a tad annoying coming back on Jeff with Sid, Henrik, Bones, and Cian. Added on the extra mile on S%*# Shack road with Cian. A nice sunset accompanied this final mile. It was really nice getting back to running with other people. While I had done some of this the first week of break, I strayed away from it a bit near the end. That being said, I kind of like to pride myself on keeping a consistent pace during my runs and today reminded me how much more likely the pace is to fluctuate when with a larger group. A bit frustrating, but nothing I won't readjust to here these next few days. Should also note how fantastic my legs felt today. Had a lot of bounce in them and no soreness was present. Probably due to down week mileage and breaking out my new pair of shoes (yet another pair of PureFlow 7s...think this is my fifth pair of this version and who knows what number pure flow for me). Came back inside and did calf raises, toe tappers, rolled, the Elliot Core Routine, stretching, ankle mobility, 15x PT side-ups, and 20 out/back PUs. Normally would've done strides today, but didn't want to risk anything with the ankle. Important Note: Leaving mats by 6pm gives just enough time at dinner...ideally leave a little before this, but definitely don't want to leave any later. PF7s @ 11 miles.
