Rest Before Cross

Daily Note

No run today. It's been 97 straight days of running at least 5 miles, so I think taking an off day is a good idea. Honestly not really tired physically or mentally, but still looking forward to this day of rest...nice little change of pace. Did do some core though today @1:20pm in the POD! Consisted of Pillar GS x 15, Sally Up/Down push-ups (2:12), 4.5 minute ab holds, and 2.5 min out and back plank. Now with the daily report out of the way, I think I should give a quick little breakdown of the summer. Overall really happy with how things went. Mileage was higher than ever and although I reached a couple moments where I felt some mental burnout and some slight tiredness in the legs, things never got that bad. Ended up really enjoying running for the most part. Some regrets I have are not running with other people more often (would've been tough, but definitely could've managed it) and not racing at all this summer. Simply put, I think this would have made things a bit more fun. Think I did a pretty good job incorporating strength into the daily routine this summer. One of the things I'm most happy about is not overdoing it. My post-run routine during sophomore year was excessive, and far too long...simple as that. This summer, I learned to shorten things up and not be so concerned with getting every single little thing done every single day. Getting them done from time to time is all that's necessary. Really think this helps with the mental health aspect of training. Overall, huge improvement over last summer and looking forward to seeing what the season has in store. Total Mileage: 1050
