Daily Note

Medal Hunt

Today I got in a solid workout. The weather was beautiful, but pretty windy so that was decent. We had limited time due to a soccer game on the turf (that ended after my workout) so we did a one mile warm up instead of two. I ran with Brett on the track and we ran it pretty quickly. We didn't really have time for continuous so we all did some stuff quickly before getting into the hold pace lite. I led for the first 2.25 miles until Coach took over because I was going too fast. We had 12 laps so we talked about it based on months, every 100m was about 7.5 days. At certain points we would talk about what was going on at this point of the year. Really fun. Splits: 87, 89, 88, 90, 90, 89, 89, 89, (Coach takes over) 94, 96, 89, 88, so around 18:00 when you dd up all the decimals.I put on y flats and bantered with Wuskin (so damn salty) and then went over to do my 300s. I did some bounds and more continuous and then set off on 300 #1. I was by myself in the wind so times weren't super fats, but not bad by any standards. I was 44 for my first one so that was good. I focused a lot on my form and my arms. I ran 500 of cool down slow and waited until 4:20 to go on my third one. I did some more continuous while I waited to go. Rep #2 wasn't as good as I'd hoped, but the wind was blasting me on the homestretch and I just wasn't mentally in this one. 46 so not awful but not what I wanted. 500m and 4:20 later I started rep #3 which was better than the other two. I ran 44 low so it was good to be able to get that done. In the final 50m, I focused on my arms and that helped a lot. I did 500 more and then went to the 250 mark. I did leg swings and gave Coach the heads up. 150s were good, I focused on being relaxed in my face and not twisting my face up. Got them done (with 250 after each one) an then I got some RPR before running a two mile cool down to and through North Trail with Joe. We talked about Mr. Forrester (The GOAT) so that was cool. I got in a solid stretch and an epsom salt bath at home. I ate some pasta so got in the carbs. Saw the heat sheets for Friday, Josh and I 1-2!
