Daily Note

After school I changed into my uniform and got on the bus. When we got to Vernon Hills we had some time before the 4x800 which was at 4:30. SO I rolled out, used my hamstring stretcher, and got RPR on my calves. Then we started our warm up. about a 90 seconds into our warm up coach comes running over and tells us that the meet was postponed to 5:00. Then at 5:00 we started our warm up again. We warmed up for 10 minutes then started continuous. I then spiked up and did fast. I was struggling to get into the right mindset because it was very quiet and there was not a lot of people there. Then the 4x8 started. I'm pretty sure Robert split a 2:22 and after the first leg we were in second to Vernon Hills. Then Jonah got the baton and he also ran a 2:22 and we were still in second. Then he handed it off to me and I tried to close the gap on Vernon Hills. I ran the first 400 in 65 and I didn't really close the gap that much on Vernon Hills. Then like 100 into the second lap I passed the Vernon Hills guy and I tried to lengthen the gap as much as I could and I ended up running a 2:14. I then handed it off to Alec to ran a 2:18 to win the 4x8 in around 9:12. I feel like I could have PRd today I just got out way to slow and I wasn't able to get into the zone before the race. I then ran for 5 minutes as my cool down. When I got back I got RPR on my Calves and back and waited before warming up for the 400. I warmed up with Eric and Ryan who were in the mile but I turned back at 4 minutes. I think I started my warm up a little late because I felt rushed to finish continuous. I then spiked up and did fast. I made sure this time to make sure that I was in the zone. Going into the 400 my goal was to win and PR with a reach goal of sub 57. I was in lane 4 for the 400. When they started the race I got out hard. On the last turn with about 200 to go I felt like it was a race between my and a GBN guy for first then I saw a Vernon Hills guy out of the corner of my eye zoom by. From there I focused on beating out the GBN guy. I then started kicking as hard as I could to possibly catch up to the Vernon Hills guy. I noticed that I was gaining on him then with like 5 meters to go I passed him and beat him by .1 seconds. My time was 56.2 which I am really happy with. This is also the first race I have everyone through Cross Country and Track although it was a weird event to win I am happy I was able to win at one race freshman year. I then ran for 5 minutes as a warm up/cool down for the 4x4 with Cole and Alex because we weren't sure who was going to be in the 4x4. It ended up being Cole, Ryan, me, and Eric. We didn't have a lot of time to warm up so I was only able to get through so continuous. Cole started out in about 58.6 and he handed it off to Ryan who split around 58.5. He then handed it off to me and I ran a 61. I then handed it off to Eric who ran around a 58.3 and we won the 4x4. I feel like I should have been able to at least run a sub 60. Then we took a team photo and found out that we scored 202 points which is insane and we swept all the distance events which is pretty hype. I then cooled down for half a mile with Ryan, Cole, and Eric.
